Resolution rules

This market will settle to Yes if the Democratic Party's US Governor count is greater than the Republican Party's US Governor count as a result of the 2026 United States midterm elections. Outcome sourced from relevant state electoral authorities. Only US Governor elections for the 50 states of the United States are included. Special elections to fill a vacancy for the remainder of an unexpired term are only included where no regularly scheduled Governor election for that state is included as part of the 2026 midterm elections. All such elections that are scheduled to occur in November 2026 as of October 31, 2026 are included. Where a governorship is decided by a runoff, the runoff result will determine attribution of that seat, even if it takes place after November 2026. For purposes of determining which party wins a Governor seat contested in the specified election, a seat is attributed to the party under which the Governor was elected. If a Governor-elect changes party affiliation or vacates their seat after the date of their election, the seat is attributed to the party under which the Governor was elected. For purposes of determining which party holds a Governor seat which is not contested in the specified election, a seat is attributed to the party that holds the seat as of the date of the election. If a current sitting Governor who is not up for election changes party affiliation or vacates their seat after the date of the election, the seat is attributed to the party with which the Governor was affiliated at the time of the election. Vacant seats for which no election or special election to fill the seat is scheduled to take place in November 2026 as of October 31, 2026 will be treated as held by the party affiliation of the most recent Governor to hold that seat.
