Resolution rules
Parliamentary elections to elect the Landtag of Sachsen-Anhalt are scheduled to take place on September 6, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Ministerpräsident of Sachsen-Anhalt following the specified elections. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially sworn in. Any interim or caretaker Chief Minister will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Chief Minister takes office by May 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Landtag of Sachsen-Anhalt; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

BSW said they won’t do a coalition with AfD. Meanwhile AfD said, they won’t do a minority government and only will do a coalition or have single CDU/BSW people join them. CDU says they think it’s very unlikely any CDU people would move to AfD

In the 3rd round of voting the AfD needs only a single defector... thus.. Siegmund’s election is likely. However there remains a major uncertainty: does he even want the role? After all governing would require three defectors—and on a sustained basis. While the BSW has announced plans to implement certain policy points with the AfD, it has ruled out doing so for others. It is particularly doubtful whether a budget could be passed through parliament under such conditions. The AfD would therefore be taking a massive risk; consequently, the outcome remains completely open.
