Resolution rules

If legislation requiring California law enforcement agencies to delete automated license plate reader data held for more than 30 days becomes law in California before Oct 1, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes. The legislation must impose a retention limit of 30 days or less on automated license plate reader (ALPR) data held by California law enforcement agencies, as a general rule. It may carve out data that is part of an evidence file for an active investigation or criminal proceeding, or that matches a vehicle of interest list, and still qualify. The bill number does not matter. SB 1013 (Cervantes) is the leading vehicle as of Issuance, but this market settles on the provision, not the vehicle. Legislation carrying the required provision counts whichever bill number it is enacted under, including if SB 1013 is renumbered, if its contents are amended into another bill, or if a different member introduces the provision. Enactment means the legislation becomes California law, whether by the Governor's signature or by operation of law without signature, or by the Legislature overriding a veto.
