If the U.S. Department of Education announces a decision by the senior Department official to terminate, suspend, limit, or deny renewal of the recognition of the American Bar Association's Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar as an accrediting agency for law schools before Jan 1, 2027, then the market resolves to Yes. The decision must be made by the senior Department official, the Education Department official designated by the Secretary to decide accreditor recognition under 34 CFR 602.3, or by the Secretary. It counts when announced, even if later appealed or stayed. A NACIQI recommendation, a staff finding, a notice inviting the Council to respond before a decision, and recognition of a competing accreditor do not qualify. Continuing the Council's recognition does not resolve the market to Yes, including where recognition continues with a monitoring report, compliance report, shortened term, conditions, or a scope revision.
