Will the 2026 United Left primary for the 2027 French presidential election be canceled?

I saw that. Useless tweet for us because she is simply criticising the primary that replaced the one she was supposed to organise. I get what you are saying. It's clearly not ideal. But "a consensus of credible reporting" is used in rules when "flexibility is needed" and to "serve as a backup resolution source when the primary source is unavailable or insufficient" (cf: polymarketguide). An event that didn't factually happen and got reported as cancelled in the media is not an ambiguous situation. It should easily clear the bar for a resolution here. I will definitely try to push for a resolution past October 11th. And hopefully, we get a proper statement from Lucet Castets even before that.

Lucie Castets (organizer) tweeted yesterday, and of course she didn’t confirm the official cancellation of this primary. On her X account, there is still a link to FrontPopu2027, the account of the primary. It remains to be seen if no official confirmation from any organizer of the primary will be enough for this to resolve to Canceled, given that the rules are crystal clear.

Once a fact has been established, later developments and reversals are irrelevant. And I believe that the cancellation has already been reported in the French media. The absence of communication from the organizers does indeed create a tiny little room to argue but it doesn't invalidate the fact. In any case, in about one month, the date on which it was supposed to be held will be past. No postponement will be announced by then. And news articles covering the matter have already been published. We will have everything to resolve this market without any ambiguity.

No. The conditions for this to resolve to "Canceled" are precisely worded and not met yet. No party has released an official statement. Lucie Castets hasn't said anything. The website is still up. And this may not change until march 2027. If no qualifying nominee is announced by March 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".

In all honesty, based on a "consensus of credible reporting", there are probably enough grounds to resolve it already...

This market is de facto over. Not sure what the trading activity of today is about. We are just waiting a qualifying statement from Lucie Castets. Or the website frontpopulaire2027 to be updated or shut down. Or something similar...

Ensuite l'Après dira qu'ils réfléchissent lol avant d'aller lêcher la babouche de Mélenchon et implorer un pardon qu'ils n'auront pas lol. Genération via Benjamin truc s'est déjà retiré. M'ok, les opposants internes à Faure ont gagné 55% à 45%. Il devient difficile désormais d'imaginer le PS participer à cette primaire unitaire de la gauche, et donc par la même occasion, la tenue de cette dernière.

Mais la proposition n°2 défendue par les anti-primaires est également... une primaire. Et Vallaud et Meyer-Rossignol ont déjà affiché leur proximité / bonne entente avec Glucksmann, qui lui est strictement anti-primaire à l'heure actuelle et qui en plus, n'a jamais été encarté au PS. Je n'ai pas l'impression que l'opposition à Faure ait réussi à proposer un chemin alternatif qui puisse véritablement séduire le militant socialiste de base. L'alternative à Faure me semble peu clair et potentiellement associé au scénario d'un effacement du Parti Socialiste derrière Place Publique.

Je pense que toute la magouille des anti-primaires (Vallaud, Glucksmann, Meyer-Rossignol) est au contraire bien écrite. Vote électronique interdit pour faire ce qu'ils veulent dans leur fédé, seuls les militants les plus endurcis du PS iront voter et ces derniers voteront pour un truc entre soit. Par ailleurs, le non-vote de la motion censure des écolos va encore plus les énerver et les pousser dans les bras de JLM. Je serais surpris que la proposition de O. Faure gagne et je pense que même si elle gagne, tu auras déjà une partie des écolos qui iront chez LFI tout de suite.

Cela étant dit, il s'est développé une forme de psychose autour des primaires ouvertes en France, donc la proposition n°2 va nécessairement convaincre un certain nombre de militants PS. Si elle devait gagner, ça signerait évidemment la mort de la primaire unitaire. Réponse le 9 juillet.

Situation encore très difficile à lire pour le moment. Il me semblerait logique que la proposition n°1 défendue par Olivier Faure et soumise au vote des militants du Parti Socialiste l'emporte (car plus clair et s'inscrivant davantage dans une logique d'union de la gauche). Par conséquence, l'organisation d'une seconde primaire unitaire de la gauche continuerait d'être la position officielle du PS. Sans garantie absolue qu'elle ait vraiment lieu néanmoins...
